Twenty years ago - 1993

David Jordan, a senior at Forestville Central School, was recently chosen as Student of the Week. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Jordan of Prospect Street, Forestville he is a three-year member of the National Honor Society, a 3-1-3 participant at Fredonia State and a talented athlete who has been a member of the varsity crosss country and track teams since his freshman year. Already accepted by many colleges, David plans to pursue a degree in electrical engineering after graduating from high school.

Thirty years ago - 1983

County Executive Joseph Gerace announced the appointment of Charles Ferraro as administrator of the county Home and Infirmary in the west town of Dunkirk. From 1977 to 1979, Mr. Ferraro was consulting administrator for the Republic of Guinea in West Africa where he developed programs for the Kamsar Surgical Hospital. He also planned and supervised construction of an outpatient center there.

Forty years ago - 1973

A tentative 1973 Dunkirk city budget calling for a 74-cent cut in the tax rate is expected to be presented at this week's meeting of the Dunkirk Common Council at City Hall.

Fifty years ago - 1963

Harry A. Centner of Chestnut Street, Fredonia was announced as the first-place winner in New York state in the fresh market division contest sponsored by the National Junior Vegetable Growers Association.
