400 jobs eliminated in Petri, Carriage House decisions

Carriage House workers in Dunkirk and Petri workers in Silver Creek were notified the plants would be ending production by April.

According to workers at the Dunkirk plant, a meeting this morning with Ralcorp officials indicated that between 100 and 120 positions are likely to be lost while some of those positions may be moved to the Fredonia location. Some employees will remain at the location to run the freezers and tanks.

At Petri's, workers were told the closing would begin in the next two weeks to three months.

The Carriage House Dunkirk facility is set to end production on April 5.

Carriage House and Ralcorp currently employs around 550 employees in Dunkirk and Fredonia.
