Alex Crossan was a monster in the paint Thursday night as he scored a game-high 29 points and pulled down 21 rebounds to lead the Dunkirk Marauders (2-2, 2-8) to an 80-70 victory over Falconer in CCAA Division 1 boys high school basketball.

Dunkirk’s Alex Crossan pulls down one of his game-high 21 rebounds as the Marauders defeated the Falconer Golden?Falcons, 80-70.
Crossan also added four blocks and three assists while fellow forward Jacob Lockett added 18 points and eight rebounds in the win.
"Both guys are 6-foot-4 and 6-foot-5," Dunkirk coach Jerome Moss said. "Both can play. We have been trying to get the ball inside. They moved well getting to the open spots. They did a good job passing the ball, kicking out and going up strong. Alex played very hard in the middle for us. We looked to him to step up and he stepped to the plate and did a very good job. "

The inside-outside game for the Marauders was working well as Michael Bess was a force beyond the arc with four treys en route to 16 points while Marquel Ruiz added a 3-pointer of his own to finish with 15 points.
Only five players scored for the home team, but Moss noted those five players took advantage of the opportunity.
"Scoring is what it is," he said. "It depends on the opportunity. These guys got opportunities tonight. We concentrated on going inside and we were able to with Locket and Crossan. It opened that up for Bess and Ruiz to hit 3s. We played inside-outside and it came through for us."
After eight minutes of play, Dunkirk held a 20-16 lead and increased the lead, 38-31 at halftime. In the second half, Falconer was never able to regain the lead it once had in the first quarter.
"Falconer is definitely a much-improved team," Moss said. "They are doing a good job. They shot well. It ended up being the type of game that was high scoring, but that's how it goes."
Nick Conti led the Golden Falcons with 21 points while Kyle Peterson had 15 points. Devon Cameron and Mitch Carter combined for 26 points in a losing effort.
The Marauders return to action Monday when they travel to Olean.
