Fredonia High School has announced its PRIDE Students of the Month for November.
Megan Gugino is the PRIDE Student of the Month for 12th grade. Gugino is the daughter of Kirk and Amy Gugino. Gugino's favorite subjects in school are Art and History. Her hobbies, sports and activities include Art Club, yearbook staff, varsity girls volleyball, reading and spending time with her horse. Gugino's plans following high school are to attend JCC for business administration, art or web design, and then go to California to attend WHBTC. Gugino's favorite teachers are "Mr. Anderson for his witty sarcasm and for being my coach and Mr. Paschke because he has helped me continuously with my math." The person Gugino most admires is her grandmother because "she always encouraged me to do whatever I wanted and she pushed me to try new things." The most important thing Gugino has learned in school is "having a few close friends is better than having lots of friends."
Esther Cobb is the PRIDE Student of the Month for 11th grade. Cobb is the daughter of Kevin and Linda Cobb. Cobb's favorite subject in school is math. Her hobbies, sports and activities include reading and playing football. Cobb's plans following high school are to attend college to get her business degree and then go to foreign countries to start schools. Cobb's favorite teachers are "Mrs. Terrill and Mrs. Johnston for giving me encouragement and telling me that I will 'make it.'" The person Cobb most admires in history is Rosa Parks because "she proved that we are all the same." The most important thing Cobb has learned in school is "PRIDE."
Helen Wagner Maggitti is the PRIDE Student of the Month for 10th grade. Maggitti is the daughter of Mary Jane Wagner and Andrew Maggitti. Maggitti's favorite subjects in school are math and English. Her hobbies, sports and activities include soccer team, track team, dance and Foreign Language club. Maggitti's plans following high school are to attend college. Maggitti's favorite teacher is "Mrs. Lotter because she is flexible, reasonable and understands students really well." The person Maggitti most admires in history is "Martin Luther King because he stood up for what he believed in." The most important thing Maggitti has learned in school is "to improve my work ethic."
Graciela Rey is the PRIDE Student of the Month for ninth grade. She is the daughter of Alberto and Janeil Rey. Rey's favorite subjects in school are global studies and music. Her hobbies, sports and activities include Chautauqua Children's Chorale, dance, choir, Key Club and Foreign Language Club. Rey's plans following high school are to "major in music at a New York City University and pursue a music career." Rey's struggled to select just one favorite teachers, "but my seventh-grade English teacher, Mrs. Carr, was a great one." The person Rey most admires is "Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani girl who risked her life by standing up for the right for girls to have an education." The most important thing Rey has learned in school is "that hard work and consistent effort pay off."
