Twenty years ago - 1993
It appears that all systems are go for a community center at the Eagle Street School in the village of Fredonia. The joint effort of the village of Fredonia, town of Pomfret, Chautauqua County Office for the Aging, the school district and the senior citizens groups will become a reality in 1993, according to Mac McCoy, who is serving as a spokesman for the group. The center is expected to be going full force by the end of the year and will be a focal point for senior citizens.
Thirty years ago - 1983
Calendar Girl for the Month of January is Ann Lokietek, 18, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lokietek, Whitaker Road, Forestville. Ann has been president of her class at Forestville Central School throughout high school and a member of the Student Council for four years. She has also been a member of National Honor Society and the girls' basketball, softball and volleyball teams. She plans to attend SUNY Fredonia in September.

The executive board of the Dunkirk-Fredonia Business and Professional Women's Club will meet at the Market Street home of Mrs. Martha Bialaszewski, president.
Fifty years ago - 1963
The Ford Motor Co. of Buffalo has donated automotive equipment valued at $814 for use in the auto mechanics class at Dunkirk Industrial High School. Carroll Gittere, president of Dunkirk Motors Inc., was instrumental in securing the equipment.
