Members of municipal boards are paid for their service.
With that being the case, there seems to be an issue in regard to Silver Creek. For nearly two months Trustee Ben Peters, elected last March, has been absent from a number of meetings.
His most recent absence forced village officials to meet again Wednesday morning and vote on funding the $5 million sewer plant improvement project since the board needed four yes votes, not the three from Monday, to move ahead with the plan.
If Peters is that disinterested in serving the village, he needs to resign and not accept a paycheck.
He has already wasted the votes of village residents. Now, he is wasting the time of fellow trustees.
