Twenty years ago - 1993
Dunkirk attorney Clarence H. "Bert" Snyder has announced his retirement from active practice, effective Dec. 31, 1992. He began his legal career in July 1958, joining the firm of Sullivan and Sullivan in Dunkirk, which one year later became Sullivan and Snyder. In 1967, the law firm became known as Towne, Rubenstein and Snyder. Daniel Polowy was added as a partner in 1978. With Mr. Snyder stepping down, Mr. Polowy and Walter F. Drag will continue the practice at its present location.
Thirty years ago - 1983
Hanover Fish & Game Club's Fall Trap League champions were presented with their awards recently. The group includes Roger Irish, Tom Walton, captain Steve Jones, sponsor Mike Davison, Glenn Scheuneman, Rick Laurito, Billy Potkovick, David Proper, Tim Tyler, Tom Trembath and Charlie Kable.

Dunkirk Mayor Joseph J. Steger received a letter from the secretary of state of the Vatican praising Dunkirk and other area residents for the assistance given to the city of Dunkerque, France.
