Silver Creek: Empty chair act in village

January 24, 2013
The OBSERVER

You may not see Silver Creek Trustee Ben Peters' picture on a milk carton, but there is no question he is missing in action.

The trustee, who has not been to a scheduled village meeting in three months, is receiving a paycheck from the village because he won an election last year. That does not mean he is holding up his end of the bargain for the village.

Still, he does have his supporters. Despite his lack of effort, a former village mayor told our newspaper that even though Peters has not been to meetings, he still deserves a chance.

He may deserve a chance, but he also owes some attendance to those who voted for him. Anything less is job abandonment.
