JAMESTOWN - Infinity Visual and Performing Arts welcomes two new instructors: Amanda Barton and Gale Svenson-Campbell.
Amanda Barton is a multi-instrumentalist from Jamestown who has been playing music since a very young age. With a background in classical training, bluegrass and original music, Amanda has been able to delve into both written music as well as improvisational compositions. She has extensive experience in studio recording and performance, due to her years as a touring musician. She continues her musical career now as a private teacher, incorporating her knowledge of written music, music theory, improvisational and classical technique.
Gale Svenson-Campbell is a graduate of SUNY at Cortland in Recreation Education, while performing in many musicals, reader's theater, choral and other performance groups. She has been involved in music all of her life, from piano lessons from age 7, to performing in groups playing piano, keyboard, or guitar, to being the music director at St. Timothy Lutheran Church since 1977. As music director, she accompanies the worship each week on organ or piano, directs the choir and plays keyboard in the contemporary praise band. She has accompanied for local musical theater and for high school singing groups.
Gale believes that music students should learn the basics of theory and of the instrument that they choose to play. As they progress, students should be able to choose the type of music they learn, while being exposed to many types of music, so they can make informed choices.
Both Amanda and Gale are currently accepting new students at Infinity Visual and Performing Arts, Inc. Amanda is accepting violin and voice students and Gale is accepting piano students.
Infinity is an after school music and arts education program that offers various art, dance and theater classes throughout the year and music lessons in voice, guitar, piano, bass guitar, drums, hand drums, steel drums, saxophone, flute, and violin.
Infinity's next new student Orientation and intake session is Monday, Jan. 28 at 6 p.m. at the Infinity Center, 115 E. 3rd St., Jamestown.
