Jay Eugene Noble, 84 years old, of Fredonia Place, Fredonia, NY and formerly of Burr Road in Fredonia, passed away on Monday afternoon (Jan. 28, 2013) at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk, NY after a brief illness.
Born in Sinclairville, NY on July 24, 1928, he was the son of the late Emory and Gladys Fessenden Noble and had lived in the Brocton and Fredonia area most of his life.
Jay had been employed in the maintenance division at Fredonia State College as a lawn and groundsman and was also a Station Engineer for Fredonia State College. In later years he was employed at and retired from Lakeview Correctional Facility in Brocton, New York where he had also been a Station Engineer.

He served as a Sergeant in the Army in World War II in the Pacific Theater where he received the World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal - Japan. He was also a former member of the Dunkirk Moose Club and former member of The Grape Bunch Camping Club.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years Thelma "Glady" Noble; one stepson, Dennis
(Gloria) Colt; one stepdaughter Carol "Molly" Colt; and children Dawn Noble, Douglas (Shirley) Noble, David (Jacqueline) Noble, Darryl (Lisa) Noble and Dale Noble, and Bonnie (Quinton) Gamble; and also several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter Denett Pimkowski; one infant daughter Dixie; and two sisters Hazel Sherman and Barbara Miller.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 1, 2013 at 11 o'clock from the Morse Funeral Home in Brocton, NY with the Rev. Larry Morrison officiating. Interment will follow at the Portland Evergreen Cemetery where Full Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion John W. Dill Post 434 of Brocton, New York.
