Hanover: End good deal for villages

January 31, 2013
The OBSERVER

Neighboring municipalities need to work together more often. But the town of Hanover is taking the right step.

Town leaders took the first step to opting out of a contract with Silver Creek and Forestville in regard to the town code enforcement officer. "We have been talking about this for over a year," Todd Johnson, town supervisor, said.

The town's officer is used by the villages with no cost to those entities.

Imagine that. The highest taxing entity in the county Silver Creek and Forestville, which has raised taxes nearly 50 percent over the last three years, not wanting to pay for something.

Johnson is right. This relationship in no way adds up.
