Police warn of man posing as a dog warden

The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Department is investigating several incidents in the town of Pomfret and Portland of an individual posing as a dog warden, approaching home owners and attempting to confiscate/impound their dogs.

The suspect has been described as a white male in his early to mid 30s. He operates a small brown colored sedan and identifies himself as the dog warden for the town of Pomfret.

Anyone who has come in contact with this individual or can provide more information is asked to contact the Sheriff's Dispatch office at 753-4232 or St. Investigator Peter Pett at 753-4489.
