Jessie M. Crowe, 92, of Fredonia passed away Monday (Feb. 11, 2013) at home.
She was born April 7, 1920 at the family home on Bear Lake Road to Paul and Ruth (Parsell) Crowe. She was the third child in a family of seven siblings.
Jessie received her elementary education at the Harmon Hill one-room school. After graduation from Fredonia High School and Dunkirk Business Institute, she held civil service appointments at Brocton Central School and the Department of Labor in the Elmira/Corning area before moving to Williamsville to accept a position at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. She retired after 35 years of employment in Roswell's research department and then moved back to Fredonia to be near family.

Jessie enjoyed volunteer work at Kaleida Suburban Hospital in Williamsville and at Meals on Wheels in Amherst and later, Dunkirk.
Survivors include her sister, Winifred (Ralph) Goulding of Dunkirk; her brother, Paul Crowe of Brocton; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Fern Rundell; and three brothers, Kenneth Crowe of Brocton, Donald Crowe of Fredonia and Harold Crowe of Dunkirk.
Friends and relatives are invited to call at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, if desired, memorials may be made to Dunkirk-Fredonia Meals on Wheels.
