Chautauqua Lake Central School urges all district residents to attend a special School Program and Finance Forum on Tuesday, March 5, at 7 p.m. in the Large Group Instruction Room. This is not a budget meeting, but an opportunity for all district residents to learn more about the challenges facing the district and how they may impact programs and services.
Guest speaker Timothy Kremer, Executive Director of the New York State School Boards' Association, along with officials from the school district, will discuss the state and local picture of school finances and its relationship to programs and services for students.
Although Governor Cuomo's budget proposal for public education provides an increase statewide, it would decrease state aid for CLCS. Those attending will learn about the challenges of state aid and the Property Tax Cap, as it relates to public education in the state and in the Chautauqua Lake community.
The event is co-sponsored by Elementary Parent Teacher Council and the Secondary School Parent-Teacher Connection. Refreshments will be served, and child care will be provided.
