Fredonia State softball spaghetti dinner
The Fredonia State softball team is hosting a fundraising spaghetti dinner this Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Dunkirk Moose Lodge, 296 Lake Shore Drive West.
The NCCYHA Steeler Mites competed in the Garfield Heights Melt The Ice tournament in Cleveland along with the Steeler Squirt and Pee Wee Travel teams. The Mites dominated play in the cross-ice competition.
The cost is $7 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under. The meal consists of all you can eat spaghetti, meatballs, bread, side salad and dessert ice cream
There will also be a Chinese Auction. The event will help sponsor the team's trip south to play the first 10 games of our season.
Brocton-Portland Little League will hold registration for the 2013 season at the Ahira Hall Memorial Library in Brocton today from 6-7:30 p.m., and Saturday, March 2 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
T-ball is open to players ages 4-7 and both softball and baseball is available for ages 7-12. All players must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to registration, and first-time players must bring a copy of their birth certificate to sign-ups.
Teens and adults interested in coaching or volunteering with BPLL must provide a valid driver's license and pass a background check.

Fredonia Little League
Fredonia Little League will hold registration for baseball and softball Wednesday from 6-9 p.m., in the Fredonia High School cafeteria.
Registration will be held for the following division: Boys' and girls' T-ball (ages 4-6), boys' &' girls Hathaway League (ages 6-8), Cerrie League baseball (ages 8-9) and Wright League baseball (ages 10-12).
In the softball division, registration will be held for teams in the Minor League (ages 79) and Major League (ages 10-12). New this year is Senior League Baseball for ages 1316.
You must be a resident of the Fredonia Central School District to register for any of the leagues.
The cost is $55 for the Wright, Cerrie, Hathaway and softball leagues and $40 for T-ball leagues. Senior League baseball is $60. There is a cap of $125 per family for players under 12. This cap does not include the fundraiser or Senior League play.
All new and returning players must register and a copy of a birth certificate is required for all new players.
Coaching and umpire applications will also be accepted at the registration sessions. All coaching applications, accompanied by a copy of a driver's license, must be received by the FLL Board of Directors by March 4, in order to be considered for a coaching position.

Registration for the 2013 baseball season will be today and Thursday from 6-8 p.m. in the Westfield Academy and Central School cafeteria.
Baseball is open to those who will be 4 years old and will not reach 13 years of age before May 1, 2013. Softball is open to those who will be 9 years old and will not reach 13 years of age before Jan. 1, 2013.
All players must register with a parent or guardian present while newcomers must bring a copy of their birth certificate to registration. The fee is $35 per player for all age groups. Families with three or more players will pay a maximum of $100. Players must participate in the league fundraiser or pay the buyout fee.
Westfield Little League is also looking for volunteers to serve as managers, coaches and team parents during registration. Those interested will need to fill out a form and provide a copy of a valid driver's license.

Cassadaga Little League will hold signups for Major and Minor players (ages 7-12) Thursday at the Cassadaga Elementary School from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
At the same time, there will be signups for the 13-year-old Prep league.

The Steelers and Lakers skated to a 3-3 tie at Steele Hall.
After a scoreless first period by both teams, Ethan Brunner tallied his first goal off assits from Lauren Marshall and Ikaika Wojcinski in the second period. Brunner scored once more in the third period assisted by Alex Rush and Wojcinski. Putting in the tying goal for the Steelers was Zach Korzeniewski assited by Jack Storm.
Solid defense was played by Rush and Nick Frazier. Steelers goalie Austin Rott kept the game a tie as he saved several last second attempts by the Lakers.

Big Daddy's II 61, Rookies 60
Terrance Buchanan and Jason Ferguson each scored 19 points to lead Big Daddy's II.
Big Daddy's I 53, Krauza Boys 46
Mike Dimmer led Big Daddy's I with 21 points. Chris Brown added 18 in the win.
Tucker Krauza scored 15 points in a losing effort.

Dunkirk will play Olean in a Class B-1 semifinal game Wednesday at Williamsville East. The original location was Sweet Home. The game is slated for an 8 p.m. start time. The winner advances to the B-1 Finals on Saturday, March 2 at Niagara County Community College
Section 6 Admission price will be $5 per person.
