Donald Hall "Don" Abram of Sheridan, NY, died at home, surrounded by family on March 21, 2013.
Born June 21, 1932 in Cassadaga, NY to the late Clarence and Evaline (McGrath) Abram. Beloved husband of Dolores M (Stawiarski) Abram. Broth-er of John "Jack", Mary, Beverly, William, Richard, Everett "Bud", his twin brother David, and Kathleen. Married in 1951 to the love of his life and mother of his 11 children, Dolores Maxine Stawiarski "Dee" of Jamestown, NY.
Upon graduation from Cassadaga Valley Central School, he was employed at the former Cassadaga Feed Mill before going to work for Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation in 1954 where he was employed for 36 years working his way up from janitor, to Operations Clerk, to Storekeeper at the Fredonia Service Center where his sense of humor brightened the days of many co-workers and friends.
Survived by spouse, Dolores, children: Stephen (Patricia), Mary Ellen (David) Watson, Timothy, Diana (Jeffrey) Schmitt, Michele (John) Szymonik, Kevin (Angela), Patricia (Gregory) Cook, Anne, Paul (Marilyn), Matthew (Karen) and Jennifer (James) Dillon, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who all wish him peace and a loving Godspeed to his final resting place.
Predeceased by parents, Clarence "Abe" and Eva-line, brothers William and Everett, sister Beverly, and infant grandson, Scott David Watson.
He will be remembered most not only for his charismatic personality and uncanny quick wit, but also for his selfless giving as evidenced by his temporary sheltering of an orphanage run-away young teen, his financial co-signing of numerous fellow employee loans and the myriad of charitable organizations that he supported on a regular basis as well as being a dedicated blood donor of well over 100 pints. He lived under the presumption that no matter how limited his means, there was always someone less fortunate than he who needed support.
A special thanks to the many friends and local community members who have been a beacon of sup-port to Don and his entire family.
A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date at the convenience of family. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made in his honor to Sheridan Volunteer Fire Department, 11261 Center Rd, Sheridan, NY 14135.
