Congressman's staff at City Hall April 9
Congressman Tom Reed's staff will hold remote office hours April 9 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Dunkirk City Hall, 342 Central Ave.
Reed's staff will be on the second floor of City Hall to answer any questions and gather feedback and concerns from constituents. Whether it's a Social Security, Medicare, Veter-ans or any other question or concern with a federal government agency, the congressman's staff will be available to help.

Boards of education to meet April 11
There will be a special joint boards of education meeting with Westfield Academy and Central School District and the Brocton Central School District on April 11 at 6 p.m. in the Brocton Central School Auditorium to discuss the results of the consolidation study. This meeting is open to the public.

Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office offers hunters' education class April 16 and 18
The Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office will host a hunters' education class for the gun portion only on the following dates and at these times: April 16 and April 18 from 4:30 to 10 p.m. The class will be held at the Hideaway Archery, 12749 Cottage Road, Dayton.
There is no charge for the class. Participants must attend both days of instruction to receive a certificate. It is preferable that participants be at least 12 years of age. If a parent wants an 11 year old to take the class, the parent must attend and sit with the child on both days.
Class size will be limited to 30 students. Those attending must bring some form of identification, such as a driver's license, a birth certificate, etc., and a pen or pencil. They may also bring snacks and beverages.
Pre-registration is required. Reservations for the class may be made by calling the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office dispatch at 938-9191.
Lakeshore Humane Society holds Pet Adoption Day/Open House April 13
The Lakeshore Humane Society will hold a Pet Adoption Day/Open House at its Adoption Center on April 13 from noon to 4 p.m. at 431 E. Chestnut St., Dunkirk.

MAC Fest April 13 to benefit Aili Makuch
The second annual "MAC Fest" (Musicians Against Cancer ) to benefit children and their families battling cancer will take place April 13 at the Dunkirk Moose Lodge 89 on Lake Shore Drive.
This year, all proceeds will benefit 16-year-old Aili Makuch, a local cancer patient. From 4 to 7 p.m., a barbecued chicken and rib dinner will be available, including pop, beer, coffee, various salads and desserts. From 7 to 10 p.m., music from Good Time Good Tune Music will be featured, along with local talented guests. There will also be a 50/50 raffle, an electric guitar raffle and a silent auction. Tickets are $15 presale and $20 at the door.

Blood drive Friday
The American Red Cross is in need of blood donors. Local blood drives in April are scheduled for the following locations and times: Friday, 12:30 to 5:30 p.m., Chautauqua Mall in Lakewood; April 15, noon to 6 p.m., Blessed Mary Angela Church in Dunkirk; April 19, 1 to 6 p.m., Buster Brown Bean Co. in Fredonia; April 20, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Lakewood Baptist Church; April 24, 2 to 8 p.m., Stanley Hose Co. in Sherman; and April 26, 1 to 6 p.m., Buster Brown Bean Co. in Dunkirk.

Village of Gowanda to host electronic
The village of Gowanda will host an electronic recycling event on Saturday. The event will be held at the wastewater treatment plant from 8:30 to 10 a.m.
