The Northern Chautauqua County Band Director's Association (NCCBDA) will be presenting the eighth annual Dunkirk Jazz Invitational on Saturday, April 20, in the Dunkirk Middle School Auditorium. This annual event, which celebrates National Jazz Appreciation Month, will bring together more than 200 student musicians from nine school districts throughout Chautauqua County for an entertaining evening of jazz, which is America's classical music.
Both the Northern Chautauqua County Band Director's Association and the DJI were founded in 2006 by local jazz musicians and educators Mike Willis, Rob De Santis, and Dave Golando.
Below is the performance schedule and times for the event:
4 p.m. Dunkirk Middle School Jazz Ensemble
4:20 p.m. Brocton Middle School Jazz Ensemble
4:50 p.m. Forestville Middle School Jazz Ensemble
5:10 p.m. The Corner Pocket Big Band from Sherman, Clymer, and Panama

6 p.m. Black Knight Jazz Ensemble from Silver Creek High School

The Dunkirk Jazz Invitational provides these young, aspiring jazz musicians the opportunity to hear performances by their peers from throughout the county, as well as provides an evening of stellar entertainment for the local community.
In addition, the SUNY Fredonia Jazz Ensemble will be this year's "house band." The FJE will be performing a pre-show concert beginning at 3:30 p.m. and will provide music in between sets.
Opening remarks this year will be provided by New York State Assemblyman to the 150th District, Andrew Goodell.
Tickets for the event can be purchased at the door ($3 for adults, $2 for seniors/non-performing students, and children under 5 are free). Concessions will be available throughout the event.
