The Fredonia Fire Department has begun its annual fund drive.
Over the next several days, residents and businesses in the village of Fredonia and town of Pomfret will be receiving a letter in the mail requesting a donation to help support the fire department as part of its annual fund drive campaign.
The mailing effort offers community members the opportunity to donate when they can rather than when a firefighter comes knocking on their door in June. The letter includes an envelope with the address and phone number for the fire hall where donations will be collected throughout the campaign. Donors may either reply using the enclosed envelope or they may choose to drop a donation off directly at the fire hall any day of the week after 8 a.m. Checks should be made out to the Fredonia Fire Department, sealed in the envelope and stamped before going back in the mail. If you choose not to donate at this time, we would appreciate a response indicating your wishes.
The door to door campaign for all residences within the Fredonia Fire District will begin on June 9. Firefighters will only call on residences that have not responded to the mailing campaign.
Monies collected from the fund drive have been used to purchase the tools and equipment necessary to respond to a wide variety of emergencies. Past items purchased through fund drive money include an automated chest compression device to aid in CPR, flashlights for interior firefighters, auto extrication equipment, and house numbering signs for all addresses in the town.
Questions regarding the fund drive may be directed to the Fredonia Fire Hall at 672-2127.
