Forestville has taken one step that will help in reducing costs when it comes to its budget.
Last week, the village hired Michael Sullivan as its attorney at a cost of $75 per hour. Though we are not certain how many hours he will work - it was not stipulated at the meeting - we do know some of the highest costs in the village's budget have come from former attorney Michael Bolender.
From 2009 to 2012, Bolender collected $222,475 as village attorney in Forestville. To put that into perspective, the Forestville proposed budget increase for the coming fiscal year is $492,270.
Bolender's take over the last four years from the village is 45 percent of that number. That is far too steep for a 750-resident village.
