Silver Creek special meetings this week
The Silver Creek Village Board will hold two special meetings this week. A meeting with the Sheriff's Office will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the town hall. On Wednesday at 7 p.m. a meeting will be held in the village hall to adopt the 2013-2014 budget.
Annual Victorian Tea Saturday at church in Sinclairville
The Sinclairville Free Library will host its annual Victorian Tea Saturday at 1 p.m. at Park United Metho-dist Church in Sinclairville.
The tea will include a presentation by the Fenton History Center's Sara Reale entitled "The Victorian Era: NOT Necessarily The Age of Innocence." Her presentation will discuss etiquette in the Victorian Age, when manners could determine whether a woman was destined for a life of charity or could "marry well."
The presentation will explain parts of the Victorian Tea process, women's etiquette, and how "fan language" allowed women with no freedom of speech to communicate. It will be held in the church sanctuary for improved acoustics. Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for children. For reservations, call the library at 962-5885.
Pancakes and eggs breakfast on Saturday
The Town of Gerry Republican Committee will hold a pancakes and eggs breakfast Saturday from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at the Gerry firehall at the corners in Gerry.
A donation of $7.50 is requested for each breakfast and all funds received will be used to support Republican candidates in November's election. Every-one is invited to attend.

Family Martial Arts Center to host kids night Saturday
"Kidz Night Out" will be held at the Family Martial Arts Center, 355 Central Ave., Fredonia, Suite 10 on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. The event, free for children ages 5 and older, is held monthly and features a movie, activities, games and refreshments.
This month's event will feature paper mache, dodgeball, balancing challenges, memory challenges, team obstacle courses and the movie "Wreck It Ralph." Adult supervision is provided. Children must be dropped off by an adult and sign a waiver release form. Families are asked to use the LA Nails entrance.
The event is sponsored by Dunkin Donuts, Family Video, Family Martial Arts Center and Rent-A-Center Dunkirk.
at Chautauqua County Fairgrounds
The Putnam Record will sponsor its first Safety Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Floral Hall Pavilion at the Chautauqua County Fairgrounds.
This free community event will promote child safety, car safety and home safety. NYS Police will be doing car seat checks. The Dunkirk Fire Department. will promote fire safety and the Dunkirk Police will do fingerprinting.
There will also be giveaways, prizes and refreshments.
