Natalie M. (Malysa) Rodman, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at Brooks Memorial Hospi-tal. Hospice provided comfort for Natalie and her family. She had been a resident of Fredonia since 1962.
She was born August 2, 1921 to John and Mary (Smolak) Malysa in Auburn, NY.
Natalie graduated from Skaneateles High School and the Institute of Canton for dietetics. She worked at Auburn Memorial Hospital, Sylvania Electric, Auburn Spark Plug, Dunkirk Ice Cream and the Chautauqua Home and Infirmary from where she retired. She also was a volunteer for Meals On Wheels.
Natalie enjoyed spending time outdoors doing gardening and yard work, playing sports and caring for animals. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Fredonia.
Survivors include four daughters, Kathleen (Phillip) Schroeder of Clermont, Fla., Terry (Ron Kalinowski) Rodman of Forestville, NY, Phyllis Rodman of Clermont, Fla., and Beverly Mosier of Dunkirk, NY; nine grandchildren, Lee Monter, Hank (Masha) Jensen, Renee (Robert) McLain, John Miller, Malysa Mosier, Jessica Mosier, Rachel (Drew) Butikofer, Cody Rodman and Jimmy Hooten; five great-grandchildren, Alexis McLain, Kaley and James Robb, Jazmin Arce and Sophia Jensen; brother William Malysa of Auburn, NY; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth L. Rodman; infant son, Kenneth L. Rodman Jr.; sister Olga (George) Green and brothers Yaroslaw (John) Malysa and Benjamin Malysa.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., 56 East Doughty St., Dunkirk Friday, May 3, 2013, from 4-7 p.m. A private family service officiated by Rev. William Leslie will follow immediately after the viewing. Burial in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Fleming, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Chautauqua County.
