Stephen Julius Paskuly of Gowanda, New York, a retired Buffalo City Honors School teacher of German and History died Thursday, May 02, 2013 peacefully at home with his family present.
Born in Lackawanna, New York, he was a graduate of Canisius High School. He earned his Master's Degrees at Canisius College and Niagara University.
In 1963, he began his teaching career at Woodlawn Junior High School and retired from Buffalo City Honors School in 1996. During his tenure, Steve was awarded the Louis E. Yavner Award for distinguishing himself as a leader in teaching others about the Holocaust and other human rights issues. He was also the debate coach for the Buffalo City Honors debate team and through his tutelage, numerous students were awarded scholarships.
A successful author, poet, historian, and playwright, his achievements include the publication of Death Dealer as well as numerous poems and short stories.
His hobbies included sailing, fishing, traveling, sport shooting and motorcycle riding.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, the former Carol A. Jacobs; a son, Stephen; a daughter, Laura; sisters Diane Galanti and Andrea Schuessler. He was the son of Grace and the late Stephen Paskuly.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Gowanda, New York on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 11:30 a.m.
