Silver Creek men charged with endangering the
welfare of a child
Seneca Nation of Indians Marshals called troopers to the Seneca One-Stop on State Routes 5 and 20 after a store employee alerted the marshals of a suspicious car in the parking lot. The employee reportedly witnessed the two men injecting themselves with drugs.
After the troopers arrived and spoke with the employee and the marshals on the scene, they detained the two men.
Reportedly troopers found numerous used and unused needles inside the car as well as Douglas Bastedo's infant daughter. The child was turned over to a family member who came to the scene.
The Bastedos were processed at state police barracks in Collins and are to appear in the Town of Brant Court.

COLLINS - On April 22, troopers charged Jasper Wolfe, 36, of Main Street in Arcade and Samantha Guizzoti, 20, of Church Street in Yorkshire for unlawful possession of marijuana
Troopers stopped the car Wolfe was driving for a reported equipment violation on State Route 62. The officers reported smelling marijuana coming from inside the car. Wolfe reportedly possessed a silver pipe containing marijuana as well as a plastic baggie with 3.5 grams of marijuana in it. Guizzoti reportedly possessed a plastic baggie containing one gram of marijuana in it.
Both are scheduled to appear in the Town of Collins Court at a later date.
BRANT - On April 27, troopers charged Cody Haring, 21, of Brant Reservation Road in Irving with unlawful possession of marijuana, after a traffic stop on Brant Reservation Road.
Troopers reported that Haring had 1.5 grams of marijuana in his possession.
He is due in the Town of Brant Court at a later date.
CATTARAUGUS - On Wednesday, troopers charged Pamela Clees, 21, of North Franklin Street in Cattaraugus with driving while intoxicated following a personal injury accident investigation.
Troopers responded to Leon Road in New Albion after Clees' vehicle left the road and hit a utility pole. Reportedly, she swerved while driving to avoid a deer in the roadway and lost control of her car.
Numerous first responders from the Cattaraugus Volunteer Fire Department and ambulance assisted at the scene. A passenger in the car was taken to Erie County Medical Center by Star Flight with non life-threatening injuries.
Clees was processed at state police barracks in Collins where her blood alcohol content was reported to be .14 percent. She is due in the town of New Albion Court later this month.
CATTARAUGUS IND-IAN RESERVATION - On Friday, troopers charged Brandon Bennett, 28, of State Route 438 with aggravated driving while intoxicated following a stop on State Route 438 for alleged speeding.
The troopers administered a series of field sobriety tests and reported Bennett was intoxicated.
He was processed at state police barracks in Collins where his blood alcohol level was reported to be .21 percent, nearly three times the legal limit of .08 percent.
Bennett is due in the Town of Collins Court later this month.
Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office reports DWI incidents
PORTLAND - Ari Paff, 29, of Brocton was charged with driving while intoxicated, and failure to signal a turn.
On Friday at about 1:30 a.m., deputies stopped a vehicle for reportedly failing to signal a turn at the intersection of Webster Road and Route 380. Paff was the operator of the vehicle. Deputies investigated and report that Paff was intoxicated.
He was released with traffic tickets and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Portland Court at a later date.
POMFRET - David J. Belovarac Jr., 22, of Bemus Point was charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to maintain lane.
On Saturday at about 4:15 a.m., sheriff's patrol stopped Belovarac when he was reportedly observed swerving out of his lane of travel on Route 60
He was later released and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Pomfret Court at a later date.
ELLERY - Meryl L. Roush, 28, of Ellicottville was charged with driving while intoxicated.
On Saturday morning at about 5:20 a.m., deputies responded to a one-car property damage accident on Route 430. The officers found the vehicle but no one around the vehicle. They located Roush walking away from the scene. Investigation led to the charge.
The defendant is to appear in the Town of Ellery Court at a later date.
GERRY - Jacob Meier, 25, of Falconer was charged with driving while intoxicated and speeding.
On Sunday at about 2:05 a.m., sheriff's patrol stopped Meier for reportedly speeding on Route 60, 72 mph in a 55 mph zone. According to officers, Meier was intoxicated.
Meier was released and is scheduled to answer charges in the Town of Gerry Court at a later date.
