FORESTVILLE - The Forestville Hornets (3-6, 3-11) were on the wrong end of a pitcher's dual Wednesday as the Panama Panthers prevailed, 4-2, in CCAA Division 3 high school baseball.
Panama's Kyle McIntyre used an effective curveball to scatter seven hits and just two walks while striking out 10. Meanwhile, Jeff VanVleck kept Forestville in the game as he struck out three and walked just one while giving up eight hits.
"It was good pitching," Forestville coach Jack Frost said. "The McIntyre kid had us off balance with his curveball. He pitched real well today."

Panama scored two runs in the first as Alec Blose and Ricky Eddy each had an RBI hit.
Forestville scored both of its runs in the fifth inning as John Murphy had an RBI double. Murphy eventually scored on an error.
Blose had three hits for the winners and McIntyre had two.
For Forestville, Murphy was 4 for 4 and Mike Priest added two hits.
The Hornets are at Chautauqua Lake on Friday.
North Collins 10, Sherman 0
NORTH COLLINS - Solid pitching and timely hitting led North Collins (8-6, 7-3) past Sherman, 10-0, on Wednesday during CCAA Division 4 baseball action.
Austin Winter went the distance for the Eagles, allowing four hits while striking out as many and walking none.
"He threw it over the plate," North Collins head coach Paul Kellner said of Winter. "He pitched fantastic and that's back-to-back good outings. I couldn't be more proud of him. He's starting to move the ball around and he's learning how to set hitters up and throw effective 0-2 pitches. He's learning how to be a pitcher."
After being held scoreless for the first three innings, the Eagles' bats came alive in the home half of the fourth and scored seven runs.
Jordan Keough highlighted the frame with a three-run home run while Jared Keppel and Jaden Keough added back-to-back RBI singles.
North Collins added three more runs in the bottom of the sixth after Winter led off with a triple and scored on an RBI single by Jake Jasinski. The right fielder misplayed the ball which allowed Jasinski to come all the way around to score. Keppel added an RBI single for the Eagles' final run.
Keppel finished with two hits and two RBIs while Chris Pulinski added a pair of hits.
Jeremy Cole suffered the loss for Sherman after allowing 10 runs (six earned) on nine hits while striking out nine and walking one. Cole added a hit at the plate while Ryan Robson had two hits, including a triple in the top of the second. Robson was thrown out at home trying to stretch the triple into a home run.
Cassadaga Valley 4, Silver Creek 3
SILVER CREEK - Despite giving up just two hits, Silver Creek pitcher Adam Klajbor found himself on the losing end as Cassadaga Valley (8-2, 9-6) prevailed, 4-3, Wednesday in CCAA Division 2 high school baseball.
The Cougars scored three runs in the fourth inning as Tyler Gugino had an RBI double and Andy Ellis had a two-run double.
The Black Knights (1-9, 3-11) scored their three runs in the third inning as Stephen Marcey reached on an error to score a run and Klajbor belted a two-run single.
Kenny Oakes was the winning pitcher as he went the distance with nine strikeouts and no walks.
Silver Creek hosts Pine Valley on Friday.
