Roberta J. (Shields) Panfil of Douglass Drive, Arcade, died Monday May 13, 2013 in Wyoming County Community Hospital, Warsaw at the age of 70.
She was born November 27, 1942 in Silver Creek, New York a daughter of Robert F. and Regina Sadusky Young. She enjoyed being known and referred to as Robert F. Young, the famous science fiction author's daughter.
She was a restaurant cook at Byrncliff in Varysburg for 10 years and prior to that had worked for Harlequinn Books and the original Freezer Queen in Buffalo.
She is survived by two daughters: Bonnie (David) Caryl of Gainesville, Regina (Robin) Brown of Castile; a son: Melvin (Esther) Shields of Buffalo; two grandchildren, two great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband Melvin Shields, whom she had married June 26, 1961 in Silver Creek; her second husband Vincent Panfil, whom she had married July 3, 1983 in Sheldon and two sons, Edward and William Shields.
There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held Monday, May 20, 2013 at 11 a.m. at W. S. Davis Funeral Home, Inc., 358 W. Main St., Arcade.
