Over the past three Mondays, the OBSERVER - with the assistance of the United Way of Northern Chautauqua County - has focused on some volunteers who have made life better for many in this area.
Whether it be delivering Meals on Wheels, serving on a non-profit board or leading a fundraiser for an organization, our community is filled with a number of dedicated individuals. They deserve our thanks.
But these volunteers also need help. Through our local United Way, a new web site has been formed - www.volunteerwny.org - for all area residents and not-for-profits. While there are a dozen local organizations using the site to post volunteer opportunities, the goal is to add many more now that it is being launched in Chautauqua County.
VolunteerWNY enables organizations to promote different types of opportunities including ongoing and one-time needs, date-specific and open-ended opportunities, projects for individuals and groups, and projects that require specific skills.
You can make a difference like many others in our community. For more information on the site - or volunteering - reach out to the United Way at 366-5424.
