Dunkirk Festivals will kick off its 2013 season on Sunday with the inaugural Picnic in the Point' presented by National Grid.
Relax and kick back this Memorial Day weekend with a good, old-fashioned community picnic. Pack your picnic basket, cook out on one of the many charcoal grills throughout Point Gratiot, or enjoy the famous One Stop Hot Dog Truck offering their hot dogs, hamburgers and sausages. Tony's Waffles & Fried Dough and Scoops Ice Cream Truck will also be available to satisfy your sweet tooth cravings.
The event will open at noon. Activities begin at 12:30 p.m. with a Nature Scavenger Hunt. Other activities scheduled for the day include: raffle drawings, sports activities, a visit from the Dunkirk Fire Department, Zumba Party with Sue, parachute games, and a 3-legged race. From noon to 3 p.m. face painting and carnival games will be provided by the Boys and Girls Club of Northern Chautauqua County. The Dunkirk Lighthouse will be offering free lighthouse tours from noon to 4 p.m., but you must get a coupon from the 'Picnic in the Point' Welcome Booth. DJ Bear will be providing family friendly entertainment from 1 to 4 p.m.
The Picnic in the Point, like all city festivals and events, is offered to the public free of charge courtesy of the generous support of DFT Communications, National Grid, NRG, Dunkirk Chamber of Commerce and Cott.
