The Memorial Day Service and Parade will assemble Monday.
Services will begin at 10 a.m. in Memorial Park on Lake Shore Drive West and will be conducted by the participating organizations of the Dunkirk Joint Veterans Council.
The 2013 Parade Marshal is Mr. Jack Sievert, DJVC Commander.
The Dunkirk Joint Veterans Council hosted a planning meeting for this year’s Memorial Day Service & Parade at the American Legion Post 62 in Dunkirk. The services and Parade will be conducted on Monday. The Memorial Day Parade will start at approximately 11 a.m. and proceed East on Lake Shore Drive West to Central Avenue. The Parade will turn onto Central Avenue and proceed South to Fifth Street. The Parade turns East on Fifth Street and disbands at Washington Park.
In case of inclement weather, the parade will be postponed for up to one hour.
Should the rain continue, Memorial Day services will be held at the American Legion Post 62, 211 Central Ave., Dunkirk, New York.

Dunkirk High School Band: Mrs. Jeannine Scarem, Director, The DHS Band will play at our Memorial Day Services 2013 and will perform in front of the reviewing stand at City Hall.
Civil Air Patrol: Holy Trinity R.C. Church: Father Joseph Zalacca, Pastor will drive a tractor pulling a float with parish children. Their theme for this year Memorial Day is God Bless America.
Central Christian Academy: Dr. Robert Gage, Pastor of the First Baptist Church will lead a float with the children from Central Christian Academy performing a patriotic number.
The Rubbermade Brigade: Home Made percussion. The group is directed by Mr. David Van Wey of Dunkirk and Mr. Terry Roof of Silver Creek. The group is willing to experiment with any household item that is considered drumable. Their repertoire consists of a Cuban rhythm inspired from the "I Love Lucy" show and they have titled their first piece "Juicy Lucy". Their Second piece is their rendition of the swing tune "Swing, Swing, Swing".
All monies collected are donated to Roswell Park Alliance for Cancer and our local Lakeshore Humane Society.

Little Leaguers T-Ball: Approximately 300+ children ages4 thru 12 playing in 5 different leagues will participate. In the line-up will be Dunkirk Little League President Mr. Gay Haase with 20-30 volunteer managers and coaches assisting. The past president Mr. Ed Wisnewski will be riding in a car with the little leaguers.
Dunkirk Major Girls Kosciuszko Club "Dog House" Softball Team float. The float has been in the Memorial Day Parade the last few years. Coaching the team the last 4 years is head coach Carl Bailey. Assistant Coaches, Rich Glowniak, Mike Gugino Jr. , Assistant coach Andrew Sanabria. The Team Moms are Colleen Newton and Linda Bailey. Returning lady team members Courtney Bailey, Emma Newton, Olivia Smith, Hannah Sanchez, Victoria McQuiggan, Maria Glowniak, Rosa Pacheco and Mackenzie Gugino.
