Vietnam War veteran John Fedyszyn will be the guest speaker for Memorial Day services held by the Dunkirk Joint Veterans Council in Memorial Park, Dunkirk.
Fedyszyn, a U.S. Marine, served in Vietnam from 1967 to 1969 and is a Purple Heart recipient. A Dunkirk native, he was instrumental in getting the name of city resident and veteran Michael Gregoreski inscribed in the "In Memory Program" at the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C.
He also is an OBSERVER contributor, documenting the lives and years of military service of those who have served in World War II, Korea, Vietnam and the Persian Gulf wars.
He is married to his wife, Darlene, and lives in Fredonia and The Villages, Fla.
