The 94th annual Department of New York Veterans of Foreign Wars and the 88th Department of New York Ladies Auxiliary Convention will be held in Buffalo from June 12 -16. The Adam's Mark Hotel, 120 Church St., Buffalo will be the headquarters for both the VFW and Ladies Auxiliary.
Four-thousand veterans and auxiliary sisters will participate in the Joint Opening and Memorial Services on Thursday, June 13 in the Grand Ballroom at the Adam's Mark. Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown and County Executive Mark Poloncarz will attend.
The highlight of the Convention will be a dinner honoring Department of New York Commander James Durkin and Department of New York Ladies Auxiliary President Robin Giles on Thursday evening at 7 p.m.
The VFW open business meetings will begin Friday, June 14 at 8 a.m. Ladies Auxiliary open business meetings will begin on Thursday, June 13 at 8 a.m. Auxiliary Presidents' Award Luncheon will be held Friday, June 14 at noon. Both the VFW and Ladies Auxiliary will hold business meetings Saturday, June 15 at 8 a.m. Election and installation of officers for the 2013-2014 year will follow.
The Patriotic concert featuring "Ricky Lee" is Friday, June 14 at 7 p.m. This concert is open to the public; admission is $10 per person.
National Representatives will be VFW Commander-In-Chief, Richard DeNoyer and Ladies Auxiliary Conductress Colette Bishop.
