Betty Ann Horton, 84, of Lakeland, Fla., passed away on Monday, May 20, 2013. She is now in the arms of Our Lord.
She was born Aug. 1, 1928, in Charlotte Center, N.Y., the daughter of Alfred and Jerusha Main.
Mrs. Horton graduated from Cassadaga Valley High School, where she also was the high school secretary for 25 years. She was a Mary Kay representative, served on the election board in Charlotte, was a 4-H leader and enjoyed her knitting club.
After moving to Florida, she volunteered at a local hospital, was a Red Hat member and was instrumental in helping many of her friends and neighbors with transportation to doctors and church. Mrs. Horton was an active member of St Paul Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clyde W. Horton in 1995; and a sister, Joyce Eklund.
She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn Kelley of Jamestown, N.Y., and Janet Dolak of Bethlehem, Pa.; five grandchildren, Douglas Kelley of Falconer, N.Y., Gregory Dolak of Parker, Colo., Joshua Kelley of Mt. Morris, N.Y., Steven Dolak of Bloomsburg, Pa., and Angela Heath of South Dayton, N.Y.; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Alice Johnson of Bemus Point, N.Y., Shirley Segerlin of Jamestown, N.Y., and Dorothy Kibbe of Gerry, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a date yet to be determined.
