A week-long investigation into a Robin Street home has resulted in the arrest of a 23-year-old man Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Dunkirk Police Department, Samuel Gallaway was charged with growing the plant known as cannabis, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.
Shortly after 3 p.m., Dunkirk police executed a search warrant issued by Dunkirk City Court Judge Walter Drag at 428 Robin St.
Police had developed information over the past week about a marijuana growing operation on the second floor of the residence. After several days of surveillance on the home, police obtained the search warrant to enter the home and seize the marijuana plants after officers were able to see the plants and grow lights through an upstairs window.
Police seized 9 growing marijuana plants ranging from about 2 feet to 4 feet in height. Gallaway admitted to growing the plants and was issued two appearance tickets to appear in Dunkirk City Court at a later date for arraignment.
Additional charges may be filed after the plants are dried, weighed and analyzed.
