It is amazing to me that some residents around West Fifth Street and Woodrow Avenue in Dunkirk get so upset when someone else's lawn isn't postcard perfect.
Does anyone stop to consider or even care that there may be an elderly resident living there who needs help? Everyone is eager to make a call to City Hall and complain and City Hall seems happy to comply and send a notice!
Maybe if neighbors truly acted like neighbors instead of worrying about themselves, or whether someone else's lawn is making theirs look bad, maybe things would start to look better in Dunkirk. We may have not followed the rest of the country into the 21st century in many things, but looking out for number one is not one of them.
