One of the two men accused last year of killing Frank T. Slate Jr., 73, of Fredonia, is set to appear in court on Aug. 6.
Theodore S. Wickham, 45, was charged with second-degree manslaughter last September after he and Christopher M. Grant, 27, allegedly shot Slate with a 16-gauge shotgun following an argument between the men. Wickham is allegedly the one who shot Slate. Both Wickham and Grant fled the scene and were found later by police officers.
According to the Chautauqua County District Attorney's Office, an attempt was made to try and get Wickham to enter a plea, but he refused to cooperate. A plea is expected closer to the trial date, however.
Theodore Wickham is accused of second-degree manslaughter in the September 2012 death of a Fredonia resident, 73-year-old Frank T. Slate. His trial date is set for Aug. 6.
Grant already pleaded guilty to the crime. He is awaiting sentencing at a later date.
Wickham is being represented by Chautauqua County Public Defender Nathaniel Barone. District Attorney David Foley is representing the People in this case.
