SILVER CREEK - Dwarfs, princesses and other Disney characters were on-hand for Silver Creek Elementary School's annual Spring Thing concert, which was held on Friday in the high school gymnasium.
However, this concert was particularly special since it was beloved elementary music teacher Daniel Bromsted's final Spring Thing after 19 years of organizing and conducting it.
"I think it was wonderful for Mr. Bromsted's last performance," pre-kindergarten teacher Tracy Cianco said. "Many of us, including myself, have performed with him for that many years, so it'll be sad and bittersweet. He will be missed, but we were able to say goodbye with Mickey Mouse."

Bromsted will be retiring in December. During the concert, he was presented with a plaque congratulating him on his 19 years of conducting the concert.
"There's no better way to go out than with the magical Disney," Bromsted said. "It was definitely very exciting."
After the concert, Bromsted jokingly referred to perspiration on his face as being "half sweat and half tears."
"[The students] were adorable and very well into their singing," Kelly Templin, a parent who attended the event, said. "It is very sad to see Mr. Bromsted go. He is wonderful with the kids."
Students in grades pre-k through second sang songs from classic Disney movies such as "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," "Peter Pan" and "Mary Poppins." Teachers dressed up as classic Disney characters to entertain the audience and laugh with their students, including Cianco, who dressed as Snow White. One teacher even wore a gigantic, head-to-toe frog costume, representing the frog from "The Jungle Book."
Elementary School Principal Scott Rudnicki praised the Spring Thing concert, as well as Bromsted.
"It's a great family event, and the support we receive from the families is amazing," he said. "It's also a great end-of-the-year event in which the children can show off their talents. Mr. Bromsted has established, and is leaving, quite a legacy within the school."
For the well-known music teacher, there was no better way to end his final Spring Thing than by leading the students in his traditional manner - with a bright and cheery rendition of the Disney song "It's a Small World."
