ANGOLA - Summer fun and the great outdoors will combine with the world of pageants as winners are crowned in the Miss Evangola Tomato Festival Pageant to be judged on Aug. 24 at noon at Evangola State Park. As a New York State Parks pageant, it is open to all New York State young men and women, ages newborn through 19.
Directed by Storybook Pageant owners Russ and Tami Faraci, the pageant will lend itself to the great outdoors and will feature contestants being judged in "Camping Wear" and "Beach Wear" competitions, as well as an optional talent and photo category, and will be considered an all natural pageant competition.
"While Storybook Pageants does offer both natural and glitz pageants and has been featured twice on TLC's Toddlers and Tiaras program, the Evangola pageant will be strictly natural," stated Tami Faraci.
The couple, who have owned and operated their own organized pageant system for the past four years have traveled both in the state of New York, as well as Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Canada for competitions.
"This is our first year doing the Miss Evangola Tomato Festival pageant, and we are thrilled to be hosting a hometown pageant," added Tami.
Tami is a Silver Creek native, and her husband Russ hails from Angola.
Age categories for this year's pageant will be newborn to 3; 4-7; 8-11; 12-15; and 16-19 for girls. The boys' age group categories will be judged newborn to 3; 4-7; and ages 8 and up.
"Babies through age 19 are welcome and we will have boys and girls categories. Prizes will include beautiful, large crowns, custom-embroidered sashes and gifts and everyone who participates will receive a crown and a complimentary goody bag, regardless of where they place in the competition. Gifts will be bigger and better, of course, for category winners," stated Tami.
The Miss Evangola pageant is currently accepting entry registrations for the August event. The deadline to complete the registration is July 8. Pageant contestants can register at www.storybookpageants.com and a $30 entrance fee will be due at the event's first meeting date in July.
