David Charles Fiegl, 92, of Dunkirk, passed peace-fully to his reward, Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dun-kirk.
He was born July 28, 1920, in Hume, New York, son of the late Joseph and Ida (Daigler) Fiegl.
A veteran of World War II, he served with the US Army Air Force in North Africa, and received the American Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the WW II Victory Medal.

David is a retired employee from National Fuel Gas after 30 years.
His memberships include First United Church in Fredonia, Forest Lodge #166 F & AM, Master of Han-over Lodge Forestville F & AM, Angola Chapter #184 and Fredonia Chapter #430 Order of the Eastern Star, Patron of Angola Chapter #184 in 1981 and 1987, and District Grand Lecturer of the Second District of Erie in 1989.
Surviving are his son Dennis (Patricia) Fiegl of Dunkirk; grandchildren Robert (Diane) Genung of Brocton, Linda Eggleston of Dunkirk; great-grand- children, Angela Scheer of Florida, Christine Rondelli USN, Christine Lynn Eggleston of Dunkirk, Lea Genung of Dunkirk, Rachael Genung of Forestville; 2 great-great-grandchildren Nolan Moore and Sidney Yerico, along with several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Lillian R. (Runyan) Fiegl, who died October 27, 2008; brothers Gene, Lawrence, Robert and Roy Fiegl; sisters Ella Sherlock, Ida Trank, Stella Crowsert, Ethel Vosberg, Freda Hodnett and Agnes Fiegl.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., 56 East Doughty Street in Dunkirk today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., where services will be held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Birchwood Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 370 7th Avenue, Suite 1802, NY, NY 10001.
