SAINT PETER, Minn. - Jeffrey Mulkin of Fredonia is the recipient of a $1,500 Mike Harper Leadership Scholars award, renewable for three years, from the ConAgra Foods Foundation. Mike Harper Leadership Scholarships are awarded each year to outstanding high school seniors who intend to enroll at an accredited college, university or vocational-technical school. Mulkin plans to attend SUNY College at Buffalo in the fall of 2013. The program is coordinated and administered by Scholarship America.
Mulkin was selected from more than 100 applicants. Students may apply to the program if they have a parent employed by ConAgra Foods, Inc., or one of its subsidiaries. Each Mike Harper Leadership Scholar is chosen by Scholarship America based on his or her leadership activities, academic performance and an essay he or she has written on leadership. The program is designed to identify young people who have the potential to be leaders in their chosen fields.
Mulkin is the son of Kevin Mulkin, a ConAgra Foods employee in Fredonia.
The scholarship program is named in recognition of Mike Harper, former ConAgra Foods chairman and chief executive officer, for his outstanding business and civic leadership.
Scholarship America is a nonprofit educational support and student aid service organization. ConAgra Foods, Inc., is one of North America's leading packaged food companies, serving consumer grocery retailers as well as restaurant and food service establishments.
