Benamati Memorial Scramble Sold Out
The Mary Ellen Benamati Memorial Scramble On Sunday, July 28, is officially sold out. However, singles willing to substitute on an as needed basis are being accepted. Golf begins with a 9 a.m. shotgun start and the cost is $60 per person. To sign up as a sub, email your name and contact information to email@example.com.
11th Annual Aspire Golf Classic
On Monday, August 19, 2013, Chautauqua Golf Club's Hill Course will host the 11th Annual Aspire Golf Classic. There is a 10:00 a.m. registration with an 11:30 a.m. shotgun start. $100 entry fee gets one golfer a round of golf, lunch, dinner and a special gift as well as their name in the program book. Sponsors, advertisements and basket donations are also welcomed. Ads and logos are due by July 19, 2013. Free Baseball Clinic
Hanover Little League will be hosting a FREE baseball clinic at the Silver Creek high school varsity baseball field. The clinic will run Monday-Thursday for two consecutive weeks from July 22 through Aug. 1. The clinic will be open to athletes ages 4-17. Ages 4-11 will be hosted on July 22, 24, 29, and 31 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Ages 12-17 will be hosted Monday-Thursday, July 22-August 1, from 5:45-8:00 p.m. Athletes will receive instruction in the areas of hitting, pitching, fielding and baserunning as well as the various mental aspects of the game, sportsmanship and more. The clinic will be a great opportunity for youths of various ages to receive free instruction from experienced coaches and players. Monetary donations as well as equipment donations are welcome and will be used for long-term sustainability of a yearly clinic. Stericycle A's 6, Pro Bats Yankees 5 - Doug Clark went the distance on the hill for a complete game, four hit, seven strikeout performance. Randy Stuart led the A's offense with two hits, while Brian Wojcinski, Steve Keyser and Clark all doubled. Will Griffin stole five bases. Brian Bongiovanni had two hits to back losing pitcher Brent Thompson.
Stericycle A's 11, Jamestown Products Yankees 3 - Doug Clark, on one day of rest, pitched his second complete game win allowing three hits and striking out six. Bob Bankoski led the 12-hit offense with three hits including a bases-clearing double in the fourth inning to put the game away. Matt Grace, Tim Cowan and Jim Quinn had two hits each. Jake Proper had two hits in support of losing pitcher Eric Rose.
Hillview Golf Course
1st Ward Falcon Club Thursday Golf League - Ed Wlodarek recorded the low net score with a 29. Jack Schrantz, Jim Ellman and Larry Klajbor tied for second-lowest net with a score of 34. Team skins were won on hole five by the pairing of Rob Tracy and Jack Schrantz. Ed Tofil was closest to the pin on hole nine, while Schrantz was closest to the pin on hole five. Ken Kaus and Bruce Wlodarek won the most points with 14.5.
Friday Night Couples League - The evening's format was a two-couple scramble with the low scores going to Larry and Rosemary Tibbitts and Pete and Colleen Borsilleri. Each couple shot a 33 while Bobbie and Pat Deering, Paul and Theresa Leone and Fritz Worosz and Nancy Crandall and Phil DiFrancisco and Becca Catalano also shot 33's.
Closest to the pin on the second shot were Worosz, Crandall, DiFrancisco and Catalano (No. 4), Chris Penfold, Jim Korzeniewski and Sandy Korzeniewski (No. 7). Carol Hudson won the evening's putting contest.
