Crews will survey Cattaraugus Creek to find lampreys

July 28, 2013
The OBSERVER

The continuing battle against sea lampreys soon will come to locations in the local area. A U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service assessment crew will conduct work on Cattaraugus Creek in Erie and Chautauqua counties during Aug. 1-7 to estimate the abundance of lampreys in Cattaraugus Creek. The information gathered will be used to determine the need for sea lamprey control.
