The first reunion since July 1994, of the descendants of Felix and Helen (Grupa) Bialaszewski was held Saturday, July 6 at South Roberts Road in Dunkirk - the home of Eugene and Jana Tarnowski. The committee for the reunion consisted of five grandchildren: Jack Bialaszewski, Eugene and Jana Tarnowski, Donna Pucciarelli, Denise DeLair and Dana Myers.
Out of the original 12 siblings there are only eight left, and seven were in attendance. The family has grown over the years to include 26 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren (with another expected in February 2014) and six great-great-grandchildren (with another expected in October).
The day was spent informally with a picnic dinner being served, a Chinese auction, and a 50/50 raffle. There were 61 family members present and four guests. Family members traveled from Dewittville, West Seneca, Tonawanda, Rochester, and Houston, Texas to attend the event. In the evening there were two Chinese lanterns lit and sent into the sky. One was for family members who have departed and the other for long life and health for those of us remaining.
