LILY DALE - The recent Lily Dale Victorian ice cream social held in the Lily Dale Children's Lyceum transported its visitors back in time. This was a fundraiser for the Lily Dale Children's Committee.
The ambiance of a time gone by was amplified by the music from an Edison cylinder phonograph with its beautiful morning glory horn, the wafting smell of fresh popcorn and the effect of guests and volunteers adorned in Victorian garb.
Children enjoyed strolling with an antique baby carriage which cradled a Victorian teddy bear.

To cool down the visitors, refreshing lemonade and delicious ice cream was served A visitor who was dressed as a Victorian lady of the day commented, "The event informed all the senses of a time gone by."
It was definitely "community in action" as evidenced by the work of the Children's Acre Committee. and the many volunteers too numerous to name. The Lily Dale Fire Department, Walmart, KB Enterprises and private donations all contributed to the success of this event.
The atmosphere in Lily Dale was definitely reminiscent of the vintage song "In the Good Old Summer Time!"
The Lily Dale Children's Committee works to improve the space for Lily Dale's children and visitors and to make the Children's Acre into a safe, attractive, and fun place for children and families. The grounds of the "Children's Acre" feature the Lyceum Building with playground areas, a basketball court, a ball field, volleyball court, soccer field and more. All of these areas are in need of maintenance, repair and/or improvement. Donations can be made directly to the Children's Acre Fund at the Lily Dale Assembly office.
