Crooners at pier tonight
Walt Wise and his "Croon-ers" make their return back to Music on the Pier tonight at 6:30. Crooners is a celebration of the entire genre of entertainers known for smooth voices and legendary songs.
You'll hear music and stylings from all the biggest stars from all eras, including Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Bobby Darin, Tony Bennett, Harry Connick Jr., Bing Crosby, Michael Bu-ble, Nat "King" Cole, Tom Jones and many more. Vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Wise will take you on a musical journey with some of the most-loved hits from the last 70 years.
Spanish food, french fries and more will be available, plus a beer and wine tent. Dunkirk Festival T-shirts will be available for purchase at the Welcome Tent.

Brocton Universal kindergarten and pre-k registration
The Brocton Central School District announces that registration for pre-kindergarten children who will turn 4 years old on or before Dec. 1, 2013, is currently in progress.
Registration for kindergarten children who will turn 5 years old on or before Dec. 1, 2013, is also currently in progress.
Kindergarten and pre-kindergarten registration are critical pieces of the school enrollment process.
Parents are asked to call or stop by the Elementary School office to enroll their children and request a registration packet.
Parents will need to provide the school with several important items when registering their children: proof of residency (such as a utility bill or rent receipt), each child's birth certificate, their children's immunization records, and the completed pre-kindergarten or kindergarten packet forms and materials.
Contact the Brocton Elementary Office at 792-2100 to request a registration packet for either pre-k or kindergarten.

A community fundraiser for the Chautauqua County VFW Sr. Vice Commander Thomas Rabb for his programs for the 2014-2015 year will be held Tuesday from 4 to 10 p.m. at both Bob Evans locations, Vineyard Drive in Dunkirk and 2798 N. Main St. in Jamestown.

United Methodist Church in Forestville
to hold Vacation Bible School Aug. 12-16
Vacation Bible School will be held Aug. 12-16 from 6 to 8 p.m. at United Methodist Church on Park St. in Forestville.

The containers for collecting paper and cardboard, which were previously located behind the village hall, have been moved to the salt barn on Central Avenue.
Silver Creek Mayor Nick Piccolo explained this is so there is pavement and residents do not slip on the unpaved area where the containers were previously located.
Stockton Library to offer puppet show Tuesday
The Mary E. Seymour Memorial Library will present the Omnipresent Puppet Theater's production of "Gumshoe McMonocle and the Strange Case of Rumplesomething" on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the library.
This free 45-minute performance is open to all children and adults who enjoy fairy tales and detective thrillers.
The Seymour library is located at 22 N. Main Street in Stockton.

Lakeshore Humane Society holds Pet Adoption Day/Open House Saturday
The Lakeshore Humane Society will hold a Pet Adoption Day/Open House at its Adoption Center on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m at 431 E. Chestnut St., Dunkirk.
The public is invited to see the facility and meet some of the dogs and cats who need caring homes.
Through the summer, until Sept. 1, there is a special "two-for-one" opportunity to adopt two cats or kittens for the adoption fee of one.
