On Aug. 6, 2013, CIAO Board of Directors met to discuss upcoming events and recap the annual general meeting and picnic held on July 27.
President, Sam Crisanti, introduced new board member, Sam Crino. After discussion of the picnic, it was suggested that next year additional committees be formed for the areas of refreshments, games and table set-up. It was noted those in attendance had a good time. If possible, the picnic would be a week earlier to accommodate more members.
The next event on Aug. 25, the Tomato Festival has been canceled by Club Italia, in Niagara Falls, Ontario. It was not noted why the event was cancelled.
Carol Kuell reported the Grape Discovery Center will have their grand opening during the Sept. 13 week end. Many of the displays including dinosaur bones will be of interest to the public.
The next scheduled activity, Columbus Day Harvest Dinner will be held on Oct. 14, 2013 at 6 p.m., at St. Joseph Church in Fredonia. Members are asked to bring a dish to pass, place setting and beverage other than coffee. All members and guests are invited. Please contact Nance Ortolano at 673-9177 if interested in attending.
The next board meeting will be Wednesday, Sept.r 4 at 7 p.m. at JCC Conference Center in Dunkirk.
