The cornerstone of the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church at 18 E. Second St. in Dunkirk, tells the story. The church was founded in 1959 by the Rev. E.B. Barnes although the church wasn't erected until 1972
The congregation and its current pastor, the Rev. Earlie G. Waller, will celebrate its 53rd anniversary starting Sunday, Aug. 18 at 3:30 p.m.
Special guests will be the Rev. Daniel L. Stanton and the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church of Erie, Pa.

The congregation of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church on 18 E. Second St. is celebrating its 53rd anniversary.
The late Rev. E. B. Barnes of Erie's surviving spouse, Mrs. Rita Barnes of Erie, Pa., continues to serve as a faithful member and remnant of the Erie branch.
These special observance services will conclude Sunday, Aug. 25 at 3:30 p.m. when the church will welcome the Rev. Leroy Walker and the Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church of Jamestown.
Dinner will be served each Sunday and the public is welcome to attend.
