Twenty years ago - 1993
Gov. Mario Cuomo recently announced that the New York State Martin Luther King Jr. license plate is available to those who wish to further the pursuit of social justice as well as honor one of the great moral leaders of our time. Each standard set of plates is custom designed with a portrait of Dr. King and the slogan, "The Dream Lives." The cost for a set of standard plates is $49.50.
Thirty years ago - 1983
A resolution officially renaming the County Office Building in Mayville in honor of former County Executive Joseph Gerace - a move which appears to have bipartisan support - heads a list of 16 routine items to be considered by the county legislature. Mr. Gerace, a Democrat, was the county's first executive, serving for seven years. A bronze plaque is to be affixed to the building to make the designation official.
Forty years ago - 1973
Beginning tomorrow, Fredonia Mayor Charles St. George will be in his office during business hours every day throughout the week. The village's chief executive is currently on vacation from his "other full-time job" at Allegheny-Ludlum Steel Corp. in Dunkirk.
