Richard A. "Dick" Reed Jr., 76, of Plymouth, MN, passed away peacefully August 4, 2013, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judith and two sons, Daniel (Llonka) of Brakenheim, Germany and Steven of Arlington, VA. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Lou (Deniz) and Michelle, both of Germany.
He is survived by one brother, David (Lois) Reed of Greece, NY, and three sisters, Dorothy (Thomas) Sesnie of West Seneca, Sandra (Daniel) Murphy of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Jacqueline Tietz of Silver Creek. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Formerly from Dunkirk, he was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Dorothy Reed. He was also preceded by a brother-in-law, Earnest Tietz.
After graduating from Dunkirk High School in 1955, he attended and studied music at SUNY Fredonia. Throughout his years at Dunkirk High he played trombone in the school band. For many years Dick worked at Valone's Meat Market in Dunkirk and played in the local drum and bugle corps.
He served in the U.S. Air Force for more than 20 years, playing in the Air Force band. While in this program he played for all of the U.S. presidents at the time. While in the Air Force, he was stationed many places worldwide including Japan.
His love of music continued to be shared throughout his life in the community and through his church. He loved gardening, reading and helping others.
On Sept. 28 at 2 p.m. a memorial service will be held at the Wayzata Community Church in Wayzata, MN. A reception will fol- low. Memorials can be made to the Wayzata Community Church Deacon's Fund or Interfaith Outreach and Community Partners.
Internment at Fort Snelling, MN, was held earlier in August.
Dick's spirit lives on through music and through that we have been blessed.
