Barbara J. Nocek, 74, of Fredonia, died Tuesday (August 20, 2013) at Buffalo General Hospital.
She was born November 9, 1938 in Olean, the daughter of the late Ernest and Elaine (Lawson) Kahm.
An area resident for most of her life, Mrs. Nocek had been employed as a bus driver for The Resource Center in Dunkirk.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph F. Nocek; one daughter, Sheila (Robert) Snock of Silver Creek; two sons, Joseph J. Nocek of Fredonia and Eric J. (Amber) Nocek of Lockport; one grandson, William Gabriel Nocek; two sisters, Kathleen (Michael) Stanton and Lynda Kahm, both of Fredonia; one brother, Ernest (Ellen) Kahm of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
Also survived by her devoted canine companion, Shorty and her granddogs, Petey, August, Chloe and Isabelle.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl "Bud" Kahm and Donald Kahm; and one sister, Elizabeth Sorensen.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock in the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. The Rev. Sandra Ball will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue or Lakeshore Humane Society.
