Gillette Named Brockport Female Athlete of the Week
BROCKPORT - Senior Vanessa Gillette has been named The College at Brockport Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending on Sept. 1. Gillette scored two goals and had two assists on the final day of the Colonial Classic Tournament at Wilkes College to help lead The College at Brockport women's soccer team to its second victory.
Despite falling behind in the first half, Gillette helped the Golden Eagles seal a 4-3 overtime win against Moravian College. Gillette's first goal of the season tied up the game 1-1 at 24:28. Early in the second half, Gillette added her second goal of the game, once again tying the score. Brockport took the lead at 72:14 as Gillette set up Katie Gildemeyer with a great pass. In overtime, Gillette had another beautiful pass to freshman Chelsea Stahl who put away the win.
The Golden Eagles return to action on September 6 for their home opener against St. John Fisher. Game time is set for 4:30 pm.
Golf Tournament Set
The Annual Bob North Memorial Golf Tournament will be held at Tri-County Country Club on Sept. 22.
This is a four-man scramble with 10 a.m. registration and donuts, 11 a.m. shotgun, snacks at turn, lunch following golf. Entry covers square in football pool. Fees are $65 non-member and $40 member. Payment and application due by Sept. 20. Call Pro Shop at Tri-County for more information at 965-9723.

Course Begins Sept. 11
The annual basketball officiating course offered by the Chautauqua County Board of Approved Officials begins Sept. 11 in Room 250 of Jamestown High School.
The 11-week course, held each Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m., concludes with the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials examination in November. Male or female candidates need to be 18 years of age to take the course.
Veteran CCBOA board rules interpreter Roger MacTavish teaches the course, which prepares candidates for the IAABO examination and the chance to officiate area boys' and girls' basketball games.

The City of Dunkirk Recreation Department is seeking any interested Flag?Football players and teams.
Prospective players and managers should attend a meeting on?Wednesday,?Sept. 11 at 5:30 p.m. in the Sterns Building, 338 Central?Ave., second floor.

Gary Tripp Memorial
The Gary Tripp Memorial Golf Tournament (GTMGT) plans are being finalized. The 2013 tournament is set for Saturday, Sept. 14 at the Shorewood C.C. in Dunkirk with sign-ins starting at 10 a.m., lunch at 11 a.m. and a shotgun start at noon. There will be prizes and/or games at each hole. The banquet and awards ceremony will follow at the Kosciuszko Club after which the band "US" will be performing.
Registration forms for golfers have been mailed to all 2012 Captains. Sponsor letter and forms have been sent out as well. Golfers may also get forms and sign up at the Kosciuszko Club on Nevins St. with an $80 fee for each participating golfer. Extra Sponsor forms will also be available at the club. Questions? Raffle tickets are available to the public and golfers for an iPod, a functional glass putter and a fold-up shelter with four sling back chairs. Monies raised from the past four tournaments have been used to establish an annual Gary Tripp Colorectal Cancer Research Fund at Roswell Park, an annual GTMGT Dunkirk High School scholarship and an annual GTMGT SUNY Fredonia scholarship.
